"The summer holidays are anything but boring in this hilarious action-adventure."
It’s the summer holidays and Adam and his friends, Taylor and Zada, are looking forward to lazing in the sun, but when a seemingly mundane grocery delivery catapults them into the world of eccentric scientists and megalomaniacs, all their plans are forgotten.
An exciting action, adventure story with the feel of a classic kids vs. evil baddie story, but this time with 22nd century style technology. From bikes that fly to hi-tech scuba suits masquerading as rubber ducks, the inventions are increasingly bonkers and hilarious. These are gadgets and weapons James Bond could only dream of!
Dr Toe, the evil chiropodist leader of a shadowy, underground crime organisation set on revenge and world domination, is a perfect over-the-top bad guy. His plan to take over the world using mind-controlling trainers is sure to appeal to young readers. Whilst Professor Godspeed is a quintessential mad but good (ish) scientist.
Adam and his friends work well as a team, but I found it interesting that they were of upper Key Stage 3 age. They read a little younger than that, I’d have guessed they were around 11 years old. This doesn’t impact the enjoyability of the story though, in fact their age means this is the perfect book for young teens and near-teens who want to read about characters a little older than them but aren’t yet ready to step into the YA market.
A fun, quick-moving summer holiday action adventure.
