When Atalanta is born a daughter instead of a son, her father abandons her in the wilderness. She is raised first by bears and later by hunters. With a talent for archery and running, Atalanta grows up to be a famous hero capable of beating anyone.
She vows never to marry, but then she finds herself in a race with a clever suitor named Hippomenes and three irresistible golden apples. About The Greek Mythology Children's Collection: With so many Greek mythology retellings by authors like Maz Evans, Louie Stowell and Tom Vaughan, these faithful but child-friendly adaptations of the original epics show where the adventure and drama all began, including the origins of 'the face that launched a thousand ships', 'the Trojan Horse' and the 'Achilles heel'.
Set 2 of The Greek Mythology Children's Collection features ten more tales of gods, mortals and monsters. Readers will meet famous heroes and heroines as they face infamous foes, impossible quests and endless wars. All this and more is brought to life with vivid illustrations, accessible language and FREE audiobooks (QR codes inside).
