There are huge amounts of fairy-tale fun and games in this typically boisterous and inventive story by Tracey Corderoy. In true fairy-tale style, Bob and Rex, his dog, are happy but poor. To make some money, they decide to take up pet-sitting, with disastrous results: a host of fairy-tale creatures are dropped off at their door – Goldilocks leaves the baby bear, who is quite a handful, Jack leaves his goose (and some beans), the three little pigs dump the wolf on the two pet-sitters, claiming it’s a puppy.
It’s very funny, as are the scenes of chaos that result, and there’s a lovely surprise twist in the tale. Funny and lively, this is a book to be read again and again. ~ Andrea Reece
