Best friends Horace and Hattie find an egg under a leaf. The two little hedgehogs watch a caterpillar crawl out, and keep watching as it eats and eats, and turns into a chrysalis. They are there to see the butterfly emerge too and it makes them want to transform themselves into something colourful and wonderful.
A sleep in a fluffy bed of flowers has an almost magical effect, and they even find a way to fly too – on swings! This charming little story works as an introduction to the life cycle of the butterfly but is also a sweet and inspiring story about the natural world, and about friendship. ~ Andrea Reece

Hattiepillar (as we call it), really is a very sweet story and shows Horace and Hattie’s inquisitive nature and love of discovery. The illustrations, done by Lucy, are superb with a real charm to them. There will definitely be more Hedgehugs books coming along in the future.
