May 2013 Debut of the Month
A riotous debut novel in which all kinds of very unlikely things happen to likeable George when he takes on a job at Wormestall Farm. It’s a job with a difference - and it comes with a warning. ‘No Squamaphobes’. If George had known what it meant, he might have taken more notice! George finds that Wormstall Farm has some very unusual creatures in it such as dinosaurs in the duck pond and Mortifer, a giant basilisk.
Can George really look after this unlikely menagerie? It’s a ludicrous challenge – and a fun one!
A Piece of Passion from Publisher Barry Cunningham
“We all know the truth, don’t we? If you go down to the woods – the animals are not going to make you tea and toast!
Especially if the beasts are rather unexpected, a tiny bit dangerous, and you have to look after them/save the species/deal with horrible rogues. Veronica Cossanteli’s world is outstandingly bonkers and really wild fun. (By the way, you should know she keeps pet snakes and writes with a lizard on her head. It’s true!)”

Alexander Bisland, age 7 - I really enjoyed this book and I loved the glossary which gave me information on all the animals. I would recommend this book to people aged over 7, including Mums and Dads because it is funny, interesting and entertaining! I would give this book 5/5!
