Carolina’s childhood memories are of endless happy hours spent drawing, and of listening to her brother’s exciting bedtime stories.
While studying Graphics and Fine Art she realized that she had a
passion for illustrating stories, so enrolled on the MA course in
Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art. Carolina was inspired to write Crunch! by her cute guinea pig’s love of food. She created the story to explore the theme of sharing. Carolina says that if something makes you happy, it can make others happy too!
Crunch the guinea pig loves to eat and spends all his time doing just that! But when an uninvited guest tries to share in Crunch's plentiful supply of food, Crunch is challenged to make a choice about his future. Choosing between something you love and the unknown is hard. But sometimes the rewards for stepping out and embracing new experiences are far more worthwhile than you might imagine!

Carolina Rabei has loved drawing since she was very small. She studied Fine Art, attaining a BA in Graphic Design in Moldova and then Children's Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. Carolina's stunning first picture book illustrating Walter de la Mare's poem, Snow, was published to much critical acclaim and nominated for the esteemed Kate Greenaway Medal. Carolina went on to complete the Walter de la Mare series by creating three more gorgeous picture books: The Ride-by-Nights, Summer Evening and Silver. She also authored and illustrated Crunch! which was shortlisted for the Read It Again competition and has been translated into five languages.
