Danny’s dad loves dressing up, and most of the time that’s great, but sometimes Danny wishes he’d dress like the other dads instead. So when his birthday comes round, even though there’s a bug theme, he asks his dad to come to the party as an ordinary dad. And because his dad loves him so much, he does.
But it’s not much fun, at least until Danny’s friends ask his dad to put on his giant caterpillar costume ... This is a lovely story about accepting others for who they are, and a touching commentary on child/adult relationships. Danny and his dad’s delight in their costumes is contagious in Paul Howard’s characterful illustrations. ~ Andrea Reece
