The Lovereading4Kids comment

This is one of those books that does exactly what it says on the tin: it’s full of recipes for dishes that really will freak out your friends, from ‘cat poo in the litter tray’ to ‘severed fingers’. Disgusting as these dishes sound and look however, they’ll taste very good; they’re all made out of regular, tasty ingredients just cleverly arranged to look like something revolting. Hidden among the recipes however are notes on some of the (to us anyway) bizarre or gruesome foods that are eaten in different parts of the world, e.g. witchetty grubs, fruit bats, fish eyeballs and duck embryos (in the shell). Part cookbook, part information book, this happily puts the yuk into cookery. ~ Andrea Reece

This Cookbook is Gross by Susanna Tee

From squiggly, jelly `earthworms' to revolting, gooey `snotcorn', this is a fantastically fun cookery book full of gross, yet delicious, recipes to delight children and spark an interest in cooking. Get your gag reflexes ready and practice keeping a straight face--you're going to need both as you dig into this book of repulsive recipes! A cookbook of easy, fun, disgusting-looking, but secretly tasty recipes, perfect for kids to feed to unsuspecting adults and annoying siblings, serve at a Halloween party, or even to surprise their friends when they come round for tea.

This is an entertaining and innovative book from prolific cookbook author Susanna Tee... highly visual, with simple instructions and lots of illustrations... the book itself is another light-weight option, which makes it especially easy for children to work with. -- The Independent * The Independent * 'Guaranteed to delight any pre-teen cook (and turn the stomach of any adult!), this book of repulsive recipes offers a huge selection of disgusting-looking (but tasty) dishes.' * The School Run *
