This is a terrific book for budding entomologists, not least because it explains clearly and precisely what one is. Over pages of bold, attractive full colour illustrations, youngsters will learn 50 words about bugs, ie insects including bees, spiders and centipedes.
Some of the words will be familiar – legs, wings; others less so – exoskeleton, proboscis, elytra. Each word is explained and, as a short note for grown-ups emphasises, having a wide vocabulary helps children explore and understand the world around them.
A pronunciation guide at the end will be helpful for readers of all ages and this is an enjoyable and inspiring learning experience.
