LoveReading4Kids Says
Dedicated to ‘those who make friends with the birds’, this delightful picture book stars a little girl who hears a robin singing in a tree.
Two cats arrive and scare the bird away, so she looks for it, discovering woodlice, caterpillars and more – a burrowing beetle, a scurrying mouse, even a toad! Sitting down she closes her eyes to concentrate on the sounds around her, listening to her own breathing and the beating of her heart.
It’s a lovely demonstration of mindfulness, and how the natural world can help us find peace and calm. The poetic text draws readers in andd gives them a real sense of the wonderful world of nature that surrounds us, as do the bold, simple illustrations.
