From within the dark murky depths comes another chapter in the best-selling series of The Spiderwick Chronicles. Short and sweet with creepy ominous undertones and of course, Tony Diterlizzi's unbelievable drawings are alone worth picking up this book for yourself or a small person you might know.
Two new characters in the shape of Laurie and Nick appear to guide you through their misadventure. A second adventure, more like a giant problem, for Laurie and Nick is now available as well and doesn't disappoint. It's called Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles: A Giant Problem.
About Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles: Nixie's Song
Eleven year-old Nick Vargas thinks his sucky life is being turned upside down. His father has just remarried and moved his new wife and her daughter into his home in the soon-to-be-completed, Mangrove Hollow. And now, not only has Nick lost his bedroom to his wacky new step-sister Laurie (who lugs around this huge book about faeries) - if that wasn't bad enough - Nick's father actually wants him to spend time with her!
Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles: Nixie's Song Synopsis
Eleven year-old Nick Vargas thinks his sucky life is being turned upside down. His father has just remarried and moved his new wife and her daughter into his home in the soon-to-be-completed, Mangrove Hollow. And now, not only has Nick lost his bedroom to his wacky new step-sister Laurie (who lugs around this huge book about faeries) - if that wasn't bad enough - Nick's father actually wants him to spend time with her!
So when an "expedition" to a nearby lake turns up a nixie with a giant problem - and by giant, we mean the enormous, fire-breathing kind - it's up to Nick and Laurie (with the help of Nick's older brother and a very familiar face from the original Spiderwick Chronicles) to come up with a plan. Will they be able to stop the rampaging beast before all of Mangrove Hollow goes up in smoke?

Acclaimed children’s book creator, Tony DiTerlizzi was born into an artistic household on September 6, 1969. Being the first of three visually adept children, it didn’t take long for his family and friends to realize that he was one strange, but talented lad. At an early age Tony began embracing the whimsical, the wondrous, and the surreal, all of which sparked his wild imagination.
Holly Black was born in a decrepit Victorian house in New Jersey. Her mother, a painter and doll-maker, fed her books on ghosts and faeries that formed much of her later views on the world. She also developed a fear of the dark. Nonetheless, Holly spent a happy childhood cooking up imaginary witches brews with her younger sister, Heidi, and tending to the needs of her pet rats.
In Summer 2003, Tony and Holly collaborated on the New York Times bestselling Spiderwick Chronicles. This five-book series has been called "vintage Victorian fantasy" by the New York Post and Time Magazine reported that "the books wallow in their dusty Olde Worlde charm." Also receiving starred reviews in Publisher's Weekly and Kirkus, the Spiderwick Chronicles have been translated into 27 languages worldwide.
