"A fun and immersive way to learn about ADHD in a gaming-based activity book."
ADHD: Levelled Up! by Jamie Gilbert is a fun, fast-paced book for fans of gaming, music and quizzes. It’s a book for anyone hoping to learn about ADHD in general or to discover more about their own ADHD.
It’s quite unique in that it includes a lot of games and short activities throughout. Within the book, readers complete quests and collect items to eventually take on a boss battle at the end. The book is full of QR codes to hear raps and other pieces of information that will help the reader earn points as they go.
While reading, they learn about neurodivergence and ADHD. I love that it’s full of mini games like making cloud dough with ingredients from the kitchen. Doing these mini games earn the reader points. There are nine levels to complete as the reader progresses. Each level discusses different aspects of ADHD such as Memory, Emotions, Sensory Issues and Resilience. There are mini-games, quizzes and activities within each level.
I feel this is a very effective book for ages 9+ on how to learn about ADHD and neurodivergence in a fun way that is short and full of little bursts of activities. It includes a free audiobook version, a built-in fidget toy and encourages sensory breaks throughout. It also includes several opportunities to take part in online activities that are entirely game-based but also educational.
I feel it’s a book that will help a lot of youth and their families understand ADHD a lot more and I highly recommend it.
