There’s romance as well as comedy in this eye-catching book. Lazlo loves the girl playing Alice in a theatre production of Alice in Wonderland and he’s got a front row seat for the show. As Lazlo strolls into the theatre with the red rose he’s bought for her a cheeky cat snatches the rose and runs into the theatre through the stage door.

Lazlo chases it through the props room, the orchestra, even across the stage, disrupting the Mad Hatter’s tea party, until at last he gets the rose back, and a kiss from his sweetheart. Busy scenes are depicted in intricate black and white illustrations, details picked out in splashes of colour, and there’s lots to spot.

As much a tribute to Alice in Wonderland as a comedy caper, and a delight from start to finish.  ~ Andrea Reece
