Where’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar? Lift the flap to see if he’s nibbling away at a bright red strawberry – but no, that’s just a tiny ant. Is he hiding in the grass? Lifting the flap this time reveals a chirpy cricket, shiny eyes gazing out. The Caterpillar isn’t in the cake either – though it looks very tasty to this reader – but on the very last page you’ll find him curled up asleep underneath his green leaf.
The lift the flap format never fails to entertain, and Eric Carle’s artwork is as vibrant and bold as ever in this large format book. ~ Andrea Reece
