More great reads: the best books for 7 year olds
This is a fabulous new edition of the original 1908 edition of Kipling's The Jungle Book complete with 16 colour plates some as double spreads which have been reproduced from an extremely scarce, original portfolio of watercolours and which have never before appeared on this scale in book form. The colour plates are by the Detmold brothers who were famous also for their Pictures from Birdland. This is an edition to read and to treasure and to read again and again. The illustrations are truly stunning.
An otherwise modest edition of the first volume of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book appeared in 1908, distinguished mainly by the inclusion of 16 breathtaking colour plates by the gifted artist twins Maurice and Edward J. Detmold. This new hardcover of the most beloved of Kipling's classic stories contains all of the Detmolds' original colour illustrations.
