"An awesome adventure for Velda and her Viking crew, packed with fun fights and surprises."
There’s non-stop adventure, laced with magic, and laugh-out-loud moments as awesome Velda the Viking takes her ramshackle crew troll-hunting plus some significant commentary on the importance of protecting the environment in this ultra-readable story.
The troll proves trickier to beat than you’d expect and even takes Velda’s beloved axe. Velda hates being beaten and she never backs down from a fight, so sets sail to collect the ingredients for a potion that will help her level the playing field. The chief ingredient is unicorn horn and her quest to find the elusive magical creatures brings all sorts of surprises: new friends, new discoveries, even a family reunion and a romance that no-one will see coming!
It’s a typically satisfying story from this author with black and white illustrations by Richard Morgan adding to the enjoyment. An ideal chapter book for emerging readers with a taste for drama, comedy and the unexpected. Check out the partner series Thorfinn the Nicest Viking if you enjoy this.
