"A delicious adventure full of unexpected treats"
February 2024 Debut of the Month
Little Liddy is excited about her forthcoming trip to the Dim Sum Palace. ‘Is it a real palace? Will I meet an empress?’ she asks her mum. As she settles down in bed, a delicious smell wafts into her room, so Libby follows it, right through the doors of a grand palace, where busy chefs are making dim sum, baos, buns, bowls of congee and more.
It all looks so tasty, but when Liddy – somehow suddenly very small – climbs up to take a bite, she slips into a bowl and, with shades of Sendak’s classic, In the Night Kitchen, is baked into a dumpling and served to the Empress.
She’s able to alert her in time, ‘I’m NOT a dumpling! I’m a little girl!’ and the two enjoy a meal together before the Empress delivers a sleepy Liddy back to her bed. Next day’s visit to the real Dim Sum Palace is less dramatic, but the food is even better.
Liddy’s dream adventure has everything to tickle the reading tastebuds of youngsters, its celebration of food, early life, and family totally irresistible. Expect everyone to demand a trip to the nearest Dim Sum Palace after reading.

Liddy is too excited to sleep! Tomorrow she's going to the Dim Sum Palace with her family, so when a tempting smell wafts into her bedroom, she has no choice but to follow it... to a real palace!
