"Suspicions around a missing teacher sees friends Jack, Reg and Mims on another investigation."
Suspicions around a missing teacher sees friends Jack, Reg and Mims on another investigation. New teacher Mr Horrocks makes an impression and quickly becomes a favourite amongst his students, but when Reg notices him acting suspiciously before vanishing from school, friends Jack and Mims help him work out what might be happening. As things get weirder, will they be able to convince anyone to believe them or will their search put them in danger? Jack, Reg and the Missing Teacher follows after the events of Jack, Reg and the Wrong Bag. It’s not vital that these stories are read in order, but the events of the previous book are mentioned a lot, especially at the beginning, so it might be good for readers to start there. I enjoyed reuniting with this cast of characters, Reg’s keen observations, Jack’s wry commentary and Mims' courage and loyalty all remain from the first book. We also meet Jack’s dog Barney who brings tail wagging enthusiasm and good guard dog instincts. There are lots of twists and turns in this book to keep readers hooked as the trio try to figure out what Mr Horrocks is up to and whether he is a good guy or not. I think readers will be entertained by Jack’s commentary. I'm jealous of the descriptions of Reg’s Mum’s cooking and smiled at his smart alec retorts that sometimes got him into trouble. Jack, Reg and the Missing Teacher has plenty of action and mystery and I wonder what they’ll be dragged into next time.
