More great reads: the best books for 11 year olds
This is a compulsively readable novel about life-long friendships and young love and as the latter looks as if a turbulent summer in France just might jeopardize the life-long friendship, are Rachel and Samantha strong enough to ensure they step back from the brink in time?
Praise for Kate Le Vann’s other titles:
‘One of the finest evocations of young love that I’ve ever read – subtle, delicate and utterly moving’ Jane Mark, Books for Keeps
‘Had me living with the characters, laughing with them, changing the world with them, and if I dare admit it, crying with them. A fabulous story – I couldn’t put it down.’ Wendy Cooling, Author and book commentator
‘[her characters] are lively, serious, intelligent and committed; people anyone would want to know, anyone would love.’ Carousel
Best friends Fran and Samantha's mums have agreed to send them on a private French exchange holiday. This is a reversal of their roles for Samantha, as usually, she is the luckier, more glamorous one and Fran trails a bit behind. And then something happens which destroys Samantha's trust in Fran.
