Matisse's Magical Trail

About Tim Hopgood

Tim Hopgood lives with his wife, children and cats in North Yorkshire. He is a graduate of Kingston University and worked for twenty years in graphic design and freelance illustration. Tim’s first book, Our Big Blue Sofa, was published by Macmillan in 2006 and he has gone on to publish a number of successful picture books including Tip Tap went the Crab and WOW said the Owl.

Julia Eccleshare, the editorial expert on Lovereading4kids says, Bubbling with energy, prize winning Tim Hopgood’s illustrations are also full of warmth. The enchanting owl, waking up as night falls, gives a beautiful introduction to colours in Wow! Said the Owl while a chirpy crab with very big eyes tip taps as it counts its way around the seashore in Tip Tap went the Crab. A Dog Called Rod  is a wonderful fantasy about owning a dog even though dad says dogs are noisy, messy and expensive! Full of life as the pages shimmer, Here Comes Frankie is also full of noise as Frankie’s life is transformed when he starts to play the trumpet. There’s lots of noise and energy too as the gloriously strokable sofa takes off on an unusual adventure in Our Big Blue Sofa.
