Thanks to Harry Potter and his friends, boarding school stories are as popular as they’ve ever been. Imagine the thrill though, of attending a boarding school for pirates, as in this swashbuckling new series from Justin Somper.

It’s the year 2507, ocean levels are rising and there’s a lot more ocean than there used to be. A new age of piracy is underway, and the seas are controlled by the Pirate Federation. Future pirate captains are trained at special pirate schools, and eleven-year-olds Jasmine Peacock and Jacoby Blunt are enrolled at the Pirate Academy, studying all the necessary pirate skills, from commanding ships and combat to tying fiendishly difficult knots!

It’s not all smooth sailing though, and clearly something is up. First, Jasmine’s parents go missing, then the arrival of a new student causes all sorts of tensions, and just who are the League of True Pirates?

Jasmine and her classmates will need all their pirate skills plus their bonds of trust and friendship to come out on top. Somper knows exactly how to write young characters and maintains tension and excitement throughout this jolly adventure which could well push pirates above wizards in the popularity league tables!
