September 2024 Book of the Month
Marnie Midnight is a very special little moth. In this her second adventure, she and her best friends Floyd the flamboyant bee and Star, ant with super-strength, are taking part in the Minibeast Academy’s Great Critter Contest.
They are doing very well too until they come across snobby butterfly Veronica and her teammates who are cheating. Not only are they cheating, Veronica is using the Book of Moon Spells, stolen from their teacher Lunora Wingheart. When the magic gets out of hand, as it quickly does, Marnie and her friends come to Veronica’s rescue, even though it leads to a sticky encounter with the legendary Black Widow spider.
The story is great fun, full of magic, mischief and friendship, and the arrival of a new character, sweet little seed Num-Num, accidentally magicked up by Marnie, is an added treat.
Laura Ellen Anderson has a gift for creating quirky but immensely lovable characters and sending them on adventures that are exciting, comic, gorgeously illustrated and wonderfully inventive. Expect Marnie-mania amongst young readers!

The second in a magical illustrated new young fiction series for children aged 7-9 from best-selling author and illustrator, Laura Ellen Anderson!
Marnie Midnight is a little moth with BIG dreams!
Marnie is having so much fun at Minibeast Academy, a school for bugs tucked into a giant tree at the bottom of the museum gardens. And this term it's time for something really exciting – the Great Critter Contest! The contest sees minibug students set off to explore the school in teams, searching for clues.
The winners get an incredible prize and Marnie and her team – best friends Floyd the bee (who is really an A) and Star the super-strong princess ant – are determined to be first to cross the finish line.
