CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal SHORTLIST 2010: Judges’ comments
An enticing book, which makes a real statement and holds a lovely conversation with the reader. The cats are very expressive, the flaps are varied and not too obvious, and the graphics are uncontrived and cleverly used. A charming book to use with young children.
The LoveReading Comment:
A glorious celebration of everything feline! Open the flaps and overlapping pictures to play with the wittily drawn, fast-talking cats who pop out ready for action. More of an experience than a simple story, this book is fun to play with! It really is a lift-the-flap book with a difference and really deserves to have made the shortlist for the prestigious Greenaway Medal.
If you're feeling feline-friendly, this may be just the novelty book for you. When did you last play with cats...inside a BOOK?! The cats in this book want to have fun, and by turning the pages and flipping the flaps YOU can play their favourite games with them!
