"A hilarious romp through fairy tale land, with an alternative story for a well-known fairytale villain."
After the success of There Is No Big Bad Wolf In This Story and There is No Dragon in This Story, Lou Carter and Deborah Allwright have created another alternative fun adventure for a storybook villain in There is No Giant in This Story.
This time, instead of remaining in his castle in the clouds, the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk, climbs down the beanstalk, wreaking havoc in fairytale land with his clompy-stompy feet, as he searches for adventure and fun.
The story is wonderfully fun and interactive, with familiar characters in new situations. The playful interaction between text and illustration and the graphic novel-like framing on many of the pages is instantly appealing. My Year 1 class absolutely adored this book when I read it out loud, asked for repeated readings and many chose it to read independently, which is the ultimate seal of approval!
Fans of these books may also like Bethan Woollvin’s modern updates on traditional tales inLittle Red, Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretel and Robin Hood.
