In 1839 a lighthouse keeper and his daughter fall to their deaths from Gibraltar Point Lighthouse. This arresting opening scene takes place just after the keeper reveals he belongs to the Order, a secret society that dates back to the days of the ancient Greeks and the Alexandrian Pharos lighthouse, and exists to “stand guard over the night, to protect the living from the wakeful and wicked dead”.  So far, so gripping…

This haunting historic story lives on in the contemporary world when teenage history-buff Gabe gives ghost tours of Toronto Island. Though he doesn’t believe the tales he tells tourists, worlds and eras and collide when Gabe encounters Rebecca’s ghost for himself. But hers isn’t the only spirit the island should be worried about, for it’s also under threat from far darker forces.

All of which makes for a rollercoaster ride that’s resplendent with spirits from the past and latter-day heroes.
