"This hilarious, character-driven tale of big mayhem coming in the aftermath of big ideas is a treat for fans of funny illustrated fiction."
Daffodil is back in bobby-dazzling style in The Worst Show Ever, the second book in Joanna Nadin’s mayhem-packed Disaster Diaries series.
“Usually on a Sunday it is NORMAL SERVICE at 43 Bean Street”, Daffodil explains, which means “Dad is busy enjoying not being a postman, Mum is busy enjoying not being at Glory Days Care Home with all the old people, Lupin is busy wearing black and smelling of STALE, Madrigal is busy being ANNOYING, and Grandma is busy MINDING HER OWN BUSINESS”. But on this particular Sunday, Daffodil is feeling “full of GLOOM” because everyone in her house is occupied with the upcoming Chipping Grimley village talent show, and she’s yet to find her talent.
True to form, though, Daffodil is struck by her latest bobby-dazzler of an idea, and she and her genius best friend, Nirmal embark on a crazy plan to win the £25 prize money. Namely, Daffodil will become “WORLD-FAMOUS at trombone”. Trouble is, she’s never played the trombone, and she doesn’t even own one. In fact, buying one from a charity shop will set her back…£25! The question is, will the show get going, never mind go on?!
Fabulously funny, and radiant with friendship and the joy of thinking big, The Worst Show Ever is a winner of a book for newly independent readers, largely as a result of Daffodil’s chance of winning being very slim!

5 stars! Disaster Diaries Worst Show Ever is another really funny book from the author of the Worst Class in the World series.
It is written in the perspective of an 8 year old called Daffodil. She is trying to win a talent competition (Battle of the Talents) to get £25, her photo in the local paper and to become “world famous”.
She tries her best but will she be crowned champion?
I’d recommend this book to lovers of the Worst Class in the World series and Diary of the Wimpy Kid series.... Read Full Review
